What is the Global Genes Project (GGP)?

  • GGP is a global rare disease awareness and education campaign that has been developed by the rare disease community for the rare disease community.
  • GGP is also a platform that provides tools and resources that aid rare disease foundations in new unique ways to fundraise.

What is the goal of the Global Genes Project (GGP)?

  • Increase greater public awareness about the prevalence of rare disease.
  • Educate the community and general public about genes and the impact genes play in rare disease.
  • Build a unified support initiative that benefits the rare disease community as a whole.
  • Create a creative platform that becomes a catalyst for individual rare disease foundation fundraising efforts.

Is Global Genes Project (GGP) a 501c3 organization?

  • The GGP is an initiative developed by The Children’s Rare Disease Network which is a registered 501c3 organization.

Who is Children’s Rare Disease Network (CRDN)?

  • The CRDN is not for profit which has developed a comprehensive online community to connect, educate and empower families and caregivers affected by rare disease. www.crdnetwork.org

Can an individual use this initiative as a way to raise money for a rare disease foundation of choice?

  • Yes.  GGP has created resources that individuals and organizations can use to help their fundraising efforts.

What % of the money raised through individual efforts will benefit GGP.

  • 0%
  • At this point, 100% of all monies raised by individual foundations will go directly to their 501c3 foundation of choice.
  • GGP is working to find program underwriters separately that will help cover the cost of the campaign.

Can anyone fundraise?

  • Yes.  However, if an individual wants to use GGP resources they need to be affiliated with a 501c3 organization.  
  • GGP can not support efforts by individuals whose fundraising does not benefit a 501c3 organization.

If someone wants to write a check where should it go and who benefits?

  • If an individual would like to write a check based on efforts from a specific disease foundation, the individual can write a check directly to their foundation of choice.

Can an individual support the Global Genes Campaign (GGP)?

  • Yes.  All monies raised specifically for GGP will be applied to campaign costs.  Currently all campaign costs are being underwritten by CRDN.
  • Donations for GGP would currently be given to CRDN to cover expenses related to the GGP program development and promotion.

Can a corporation support the Global Genes Campaign (GGP)?

  • Yes.  All monies raised specifically for GGP will be applied to campaign costs.  Currently all campaign costs are being underwritten by CRDN.
  • Donations for GGP would currently be given to CRDN to cover expenses related to the GGP program development and promotion.
